"...Cara bella, cara mia bella! Mia bambina, o ciel! Ché la stimo… Ché la stimo. O cara mia, addio! La mia bambina cara, perché non passi lontana? Sì, lontana da Scïenza, Cara, cara mia bambina? Ah, mia bella! Ah, mia cara! Ah, mia cara! Ah, mia bambina! O cara, cara mia…"
I cried at the end of Portal 2. On Friday night I played the original portal until Saturday and early Saturday I started Portal 2. Yesterday evening [Saturday] I started playing Portal 2 and this early Sunday morning I made this stamp. "Cara Mia Addio" is the part of the soundtrack that sticks out to me the most, and as of that, is most dear to me. I broke down crying at the ending of Portal 2. It was one of the moments that seems to happy yet there is such a sadness about it [as if you've been through a long journey]. Later this morning I also researched a bit. There were the entire theories about Greek // Elycian mythologies. In kind of want to believe those theories about Chell dying at the end of the game rather than she was just set free. I suppose it helps calm me in a way; it's more dramatic - it just seems like a better ending. For those of you wondering, the theory is that Chell died from her injuries after being sucked into Space. There is a lot of evidence to support Chell is dead at the end of the game, in fact, mythology is scattered EVERYWHERE throughout the game. There is even an extract of a painting lightly put into the portrait of Cave and Caroline. The Elycian mythology is that you wake up in a sacred place and make amends with your family. Chell is an orphan as far as we know, so when she wakes up from apparently "dying" instead she made up with who she was closest to; GlaDOS. After this, in the mythology, you ascend to "heaven" with a chorus of angel, which of course would be the turrets singing to Chell in their massive chorus of "Cara Mia Addio". In the Mythology, Heaven is actually a wheat field - where Chell ends up, and in the mythology you descend to a wheat field with your best friend. Chell's best friend [from the original portal] is the weighted companion cube, which Chell burned and "killed". So both Chell and this object are "dead" and in heaven; Chell, the weighted companion cube and the wheat field.
I think that is a subtly beautiful ending to the game. Now every time I hear Cara Mia Addio I get emotional, even if I don't actually cry I feel the emotion and feel as if I am about to cry. Portal has officially made it as one of my favourite games.
Anyway, ever since I laid eyes on the turrets and heard their little voices...I've absolutely been in love with them. They are so gosh darn adorable! The way they scream "Ouch~!" when you tip them over is so, so cute! I felt so guilty! I want the full-size replica but it would be way to expensive just to manufacture!
